Summary: Plus & Minus is a contemporary range of wines developed to be richer in antioxidants, minus the alcohol. These zero alcohol wines have been hand-made without the use of any artificial sweeteners but do see the addition of grape skin extract (GSE) during the winemaking process. This GSE is rich in naturally occurring antioxidants delivering more of those benefits that can already be found in red wine but without the alcohol. The Plus & Minus range of wines have been uniquely hand-crafted using only high-quality grapes from premium, dry-grown South Australian vineyards. This ensures the resultant wines remain vibrant and full-flavoured once the process of removing the alcohol has been completed.
Vineyards: Fruit sourced from vineyards in Langhorne Creek, one of South Australia’s most renowned sources of premium red grapes.
Vintage 2020: 2020 had its challenges with a dry start and only a small portion of rain and with much of the country suffering drought conditions. The warm dry spell continued in December with some extreme hot temperature days recorded. It was a late ripening year and yields were down but despite the challenges it was another excellent vintage across South Australia.
Some Help With Definitions
What is the difference between non-alcoholic, dealcoholized or alcohol free?
These terms all mean different things in different areas of the world.
Non-alcoholic: These have basically no alcohol in them but there may be traces of alcohol (0.5% ABV or less). There are traces of alcohol in things we consumer everyday such as pineapple, orange juice and occasionally bread. This is an exceptionally small amount of alcohol, and it's really not possible for the average human to feel any impact of the alcohol.
Alcohol-Free: Alcohol-free will always be your best bet if you are unsure what alternative is right for you. If a product is classified on the bottle as alcohol-free or as having 0% alcohol, that means there is no alcohol in the product.
De-alcoholised: is generally removing all or some of the alcohol from a beverage prior to being pasteurised and bottled.
